Intro - Detour 180

BREATHEcast.com: Tell us a little bit about how you got started.

Cain: Well we all met in a performing arts school in Auckland and a couple years later we decided to form a band, and it's all happened from there. We played at a festival a couple times called the Parachute festival, which is the largest Christian Music Festival in the Southern Hemisphere. We released our first album in the states in 2003 and we've recently finished our second album.

BREATHEcast.com: How's the response in the states so far?

Adrian: It's cool; we love coming to the states. We've been here a few times now, but we'll keep coming back. We're even going to live here for a while, about a year and a half and see what doors God opens up, and if he wants us to stay here for a while, we'll do that.

BREATHEcast.com: How popular is Christian music in New Zealand?

Morgan: Christian music in particular, just over the past few years, has really come along in New Zealand. There's a lot of really exciting stuff happening with a lot of bands putting out a really good sound. There's definitely a real Christian vibe going through the community at some level, so it's cool to be a Christian band in there and be a real light for the church.

BREATHEcast.com: You guys have a very straight-up rock n' roll sound, which makes some people dismiss the music as being somewhat shallow. However, the lyrics to your songs are all very heartfelt and meaningful. Can you tell us a little bit about the message behind some of your songs?

Adrian: The very first song that we wrote was called She Walked In and it's definitely loud and it's got a rock feel to it, but when you do look into the lyrics, it's a song about the beauty of what God's made. It refers to people as beautiful vessels, and so if you're a vessel, it's like, what's filling you? What've you got in you, who's living in you, and who's affecting you, and of course, we're telling everyone that it's God for us.

BREATHEcast.com: What's the main thing that you want to communicate to your fans?

Adrian: It's that God has to be the center of your life. Everything that we do as individuals and as a band is all revolved around what God wants for us. And so we take as many opportunities as we can to focus and pray together and ask God what he wants us to do next.

BREATHEcast.com: When can we expect your second album to come out?

Adrian: We're hoping to release it in the States in July.
