The life of Christ has been written about by many people, secular and religious. These two worlds meet in the upcoming Christian film, “Apostle Peter and The Last Supper.”

Simon, once a simple fisherman, meets a man named Jesus that changes his whole life. This simple fisherman who became a personal friend and disciple of Jesus now finds himself as a bold leader in the Christian movement.

On one side, told through the eyes of an elderly Apostle Peter, who has found himself in the ancient Mamertine Prison, he recounts the life of Jesus, from their first meeting, his confession of Jesus as Christ, his denial, and to the death and resurrection of Christ.

While in prison, he encounters gentile jailers who are captivated by his faith in Christ as he introduces and leads them to experience the life of Christ for the first time.

The movie, which unfolds through the eyes of one particular jailer who has been captivated and mystified by Peter’s life’s philosophy, hears the gospel for the first time and wrestles with the fear of what following it will cost him in a society hostile towards Christians.

Martineum, a skeptical jailer, who meets the apostle that has been imprisoned for insurrection against the Roman empire, is intrigued by, as other Roman jailers are, that Christians go quietly to their deaths and wonders what this “cult” could possible offer someone to risks freedom and life.

Finding out the Peter actually knew Jesus, the controversial man and source of much conflict, questions Peter about his life of suffering and beliefs that are very contrary to his way of thinking.

Perplexed by Peter’s life of faith and hope in Christ, he makes a bet with Peter wagering that if he can convert him, then he’ll set him free. To his surprise Peter says,“I am already free.”

“But even in chains,” Martineum asks. “You are the one in chains Martineum, not I,” Peter tells him.

Leaving an unforgettable impression on those around him, the elderly apostle helps his jailers witness the power of the gospel in his last days on earth, as the life of Christ is remembered through the eyes of Peter and realized for the first time by Mamertine prisoners and jailers.

Set in Rome, A.D. 67, Apostle Peter is played by Saturn Award-winning actor Robert Loggia who may be remembered from his roles in popular movies such as “Scarface,” “Independence Day,” and “Necessary Roughness.” The 82-year-old has also had various television roles in “Frasier, ” “The Sopranos,” “Monk,” among many.

“Apostle Peter and The Last Supper” will be released February 21, 2012, and will be available on DVD and Blu-ray.
